A friend just sent me a link to a new website monetization system: PPP. This stands for “Pay Per Play“.
This network is officially launching on February 1st 2008. You add a snippet of code to your site (just like adsense), but instead of displaying an ad, a 5 second audio clip is played.
Here’s what I came to understand after reading the sales page:
- You are paid for every single visitor who hears the audio clip.
- The audio clip only play once per visitor — so if they click around your site, they won’t hear it again.
- There is nothing displayed on your site associated with the audio clips — so you will still be able to monetize the visitors again through AdSense or whatever.
- The audio ads will be contextually related to your website content.
- Since there is nothing to click, the ads are likely more for corporate branding purposes — such as “Drink Coke!”
I just signed up. I don’t plan to use this on any site where I’ve already got lucrative monetization in place. But I’ve got a few sites running AdSense, and this would be perfect — at the very least just to run a test to see if their potential income claims prove true!
While the program doesn’t officially start until Feb 1, they are presently building their network to command larger bid prices for the ads.
So sign up now and tell others. (They’ve got a reasonable 2nd & 3rd tier commission structure to add incentive to help them build their network.)
