A friend just sent me a link to a new website monetization system: PPP. This stands for “Pay Per Play“.

This network is officially launching on February 1st 2008. You add a snippet of code to your site (just like adsense), but instead of displaying an ad, a 5 second audio clip is played.

Here’s what I came to understand after reading the sales page:

  • You are paid for every single visitor who hears the audio clip.
  • The audio clip only play once per visitor — so if they click around your site, they won’t hear it again.
  • There is nothing displayed on your site associated with the audio clips — so you will still be able to monetize the visitors again through AdSense or whatever.
  • The audio ads will be contextually related to your website content.
  • Since there is nothing to click, the ads are likely more for corporate branding purposes — such as “Drink Coke!”

I just signed up. I don’t plan to use this on any site where I’ve already got lucrative monetization in place. But I’ve got a few sites running AdSense, and this would be perfect — at the very least just to run a test to see if their potential income claims prove true!

While the program doesn’t officially start until Feb 1, they are presently building their network to command larger bid prices for the ads.

So sign up now and tell others. (They’ve got a reasonable 2nd & 3rd tier commission structure to add incentive to help them build their network.)

There’s a truth I’ve been learning this past year.  No matter how “automated” I make something… even if I am able to get 200 tasks down to 5… if I am prone to procrastinate, I still won’t do the 5 tasks.

That’s the main reason I created the Content Spooling Network.  I automated the entire article distribution process.  Just before releasing early this year, I realized that an automated distribution process still wouldn’t overcome my biggest hurdle… writing the articles themselves.  So I integrated a ghostwriting service.

Yet even with all the automation, there are still steps to be taken.  You’ve got to do your keyword research.  (Which is why I integrated a keyword research module into the Content Spooling Network.)

Once everything was working like clockwork, a new bottleneck surfaced… I realized I still had to manually request the articles to be written from the ghostwriters.  Sure it is a 2 minute task, but it was 2 minutes which wasn’t getting done consistently.  So I automated the article request process — you just upload a file with all the keywords you plan to request, and the articles will be requested on schedule.  This is called the “Ghostwriting Keyword Queue” within CSN.

So here’s the article marketing process possible with the Content Spooling Network…

  1. Become a member of the Content Spooling Network for $50/mo.
  2. Pay $20 for CSN to install the publishing script on your site (or do it yourself for free.)
  3. Purchase a keyword research report for $10.
  4. Click a button to initiate this report based on your keyword.
  5. Select the best keywords from the report that you want to target.
  6. Upload the keywords to your Ghostwriting Keyword Queue.
  7. Click to activate the keyword queue.
  8. Purchase a subscription for full service ghostwritten articles — 4 per month for $68.mo or 10 per month for $170/mo.  (All full service ghostwritten articles are written into 4 unique versions.  Random versions of each paragraph are chosen during the publishing process so that hundreds of unique articles are possible.)
  9. Each time you get a “Article Review” email, review the article and make any changes you want, then click to accept.
  10. Each time you get an “Article Complete” email, click the button to publish the article through CSN to related network sites and external article directories.

So, as you can see, even with all the automation, there are still multiple steps involved. For the uninitiated person, even these small tasks can be overwhelming and/or confusing.

As such, I decided to simplify the process even more in a new service I’m releasing today… Trafficle.

Trafficle uses the same Content Spooling Network backend, but instead of you doing all the above steps, I do them for you.  Your Trafficle login area will hide all the details — you’ll only see the monthly reports of your progress.

So if you don’t have the time to use a new system, or just don’t want to… sign up for Trafficle.com.  The current price is $299/mo with no setup fee.  Once you sign up, you are locked in at that price (but can cancel anytime).

I’m still recovering from BMADD… “Business Model ADD”.  In the past, whenever discouragement came in my business, I’d take out a blank piece of paper and start doodling and brainstorming a new business model I could follow.

One day I wrote at the top of this paper, “What is making me money?”  Then I wrote down the business idea that was bringing in consistent income.  Then instead of coming up with brand new ideas, I decided to focus only on ideas that would optimize what was currently making me money.

Sure, I’ve got other ideas lingering around my head.  But to make the most money, I realize I needed to put most of my efforts into what I know is already working.

If it works, do more of it!

What do you have that is working?  What ideas do you need to give up for now so you can put more effort into your primary business?

As a programmer I’m very familiar with giving step-by-step instructions.  I need to be able to think on a very granular level when giving instructions to a computer using a programming language.

As with a computer program, any “job” can also be modularized.  In fact, the Content Spooling Network ghostwriting process is so modularized that an average of 98 people work on each full-service ghostwritten article.

Even so, it has been a big shift to start applying this type of thinking to my business procedures.  Yet this is the very type of thinking that is required to enable me to outsource the day-to-day details of running my business.

A business mentor of mine recently confirmed a thought I’ve had for a while now.

Here what I asked him…

“Sometimes when I set out to record a new procedure, it ends up much
more complicated than I’d imagined.  Such as setting up a new website.
There is just so much involved — from buying the domain name to setting
up hosting, to adding an email account, to uploading the site.  And some
of the items require passwords and/or credit card info.

Even though all the above can be completed in one sitting, so they
qualify as a “procedure” by your definition, the tasks are very
different and require different skill sets and levels of trust (such as
handling credit card info).”

Here was his response…

“There is no such thing as a different skill set.  If your procedures are
well documented, a 10 year old child with no skill sets can perform them.
I also require that all human resources be excellent writers (6th grade
level or better) and be proficient in the English language.

The credit card issue does require different resources.  So you break your
procedure at that point.”

So, my “setting up a website” job in the end will encompass a hundred plus distinct tasks in a few separate procedures.

How 235 Steps Can Become 1…

In programming as in life, any number of distinct steps can be bundled up into a procedure.  Once all the steps are defined, you can simply perform one step to get them done.  That one step would be something like, “Click button to have Chris do my article marketing for me”.

I’m sure it would be ideal if you could just hand such a huge task of to someone else and didn’t have to get bogged down in any of the details whatsoever.

Well, this week I’m going to be offering a special on such a service to you for this one very critical job for which I’ve already developed thorough procedures within trusted system.

I’ve even got the human resources to do most all the work!

A friend showed me the following page a few hours ago:

http://www.google.com/experimental/a840e102.html

This is an experiment Google is conducting which allows users to “rate” web pages directly in the search result area.  You can bet they will use this data in their algorithm.

People will tell Google when a “spammy” site is found.  But this sort of data is already being collected by Google.

When you click to a site in the search results, then immediately click the “back” button due to the poor result… Google knows.

When you linger on a page and never return to the search results because you found what you were looking for… Google knows.

You can bet they are already using such data in their algorithm.  If certain sites have a lower than average “stick” rate, they are likely given a negative mark for that keyword.

So this seems to be more of a user interface change than an algorithm change.

Time will tell.

I received four solid traffic generation procedures last week. (One was a duplicate — so the most thorough procedure was picked.)

The procedures consist of step-by-step instructions for redirecting traffic to your site from a given source.

Generosity got the best of me, so I am giving these away as my gift to you. Simply sign up in the upper right corner of this blog. I’ll then send an email with the procedures as a pdf attachment.

Convert Those Visitors… (Incredible discount follows!)

For the past 10 months or so I’ve been using a product called Muvar 2007 on most sales pages. I’m too lazy and don’t have the patience to split test. Instead I set up all my variations in advance — headline, description, call to action, etc. Then Muvar 2007 controls my sales page and shows each variations in direct proportion to how well that variation converts. So if a certain headline begins performing better, Muvar 2007 will delilver that headline more often.

Using Muvar 2007, I achieved a 17.8% conversion rate on my most recent sales letter.

Muvar 2007 is a shipped product that sells for $300. I purchased a bunch of them at a significant reseller discount. I’ve got about 60 copies left and want to let them go for an incredible discount.

I’m also packaging 2 CD’s that contain additional screen-capture documented traffic procedures. The creator of these procedures sells the CD’s for $100 each. I don’t think the products are worth $100, but I’d pay $35 or so for them (in fact I think that is what I paid when he offered a special some months back).

I have some extra copies of these screen-capture documented traffic generation procedures and will include both of them with this Muvar 2007 special. That is an extra $200 value — but more realistically an added $65 value to the $300 Muvar 2007 software.

(If you purchased the Internet Business in a Box, there’s no need to buy these products, since they are included with the package.)

Here’s the $50 special…

A week ago I asked my blog readers, “What is the most pressing need for your online business?”  I opened up comments for your responses — something I don’t normally do.  (Comments on my posts are usually only allowed through a ping from another blog.)

The #1 need most people expressed was to get more traffic to their site.

What I found interesting was that many of those who said they need more traffic failed to link to their website in the very blog comment stating they need more traffic.

What makes this most interesting is that I released a simple “find-blogs” script a couple weeks ago and hundreds of you purchased it.  The premise of this script is to find blogs that don’t employ the “nofollow” tag and will pass full link-weight to the link in your comments.

Getting more traffic to you site is not some mystery… each visitor to your site can be directly traced back to some traffic generation work you or someone else did on behalf of your site.

By and large people get to your site through links.  When people find these links, they tend to click on them.  When the search engines find these links, they give you higher placement in the search engines.  Either way, you just got another visitor to your site.

I’m not telling you anything new… but obviously this fact hasn’t been internalized by many of you.  If you see an opportunity to add another link to your site… TAKE IT!  Whether in blog comments, forum signatures, article marketing, etc.

Traffic Generation Procedures…

Three or four of you took my challenge last week and submitted your best performing traffic generation procedure.  As my “payment,” tomorrow I’ll be adding a one year link to your site in the sidebar of this blog — so you can get even more traffic!

As you know, I had planned to compile these and sell them as a product.  I’ve changed my mind.  Tomorrow I’ll be releasing them as my gift to you.  I’m also putting together a special offer for all those who take action to download these traffic procedures tomorrow.

Based on the response from the previous post, it looks like people are overwhelmingly wanting to get more traffic to their site.

There are countless ways to get more traffic… one of my favorites is article marketing.  Hence my core product is the Content Spooling Network.  (By the way, we’re still offering a complimentary 21 day trial!)

It is one thing to be aware of a free traffic method, but the real power comes by getting simple step-by-step instructions that make implementation a cinch. I’d like to compile such procedures.  Which is why I’m asking…

What is your best performing traffic procedure?

I’m not looking for procedures for purchasing paid traffic — such as PPC.  Instead I’d like to know your best performing procedure for getting free SEO or direct traffic to your site.

I’ll be compiling the top procedures into an upcoming product.

Those who contribute a procedure within the next 24 Hours that is selected for publishing will receive a one-year link to the site of their choosing (family-friendly only) on the homepage of this blog!  If you submit more than one procedure that is selected, I’ll give you 2 links and mention your site in a blog post.

If near-duplicate procedures are submitted, I’ll choose the one that is the most thorough and/or that was submitted first.

All who contribute a procedure within the next 24 hours (whether or not I include it in the compiled procedures)  will receive a complimentary copy of the compiled procedures once released.

Document your traffic procedure in this business procedure template Excel spreadsheet.  Then attach the file and email to trafficprocedures@chriscrompton.com as soon as you can.  Remember, authors of the top procedures submitted within the next 24 hours will get a one-year link on this blog!
